Did you know that plastics account for 80% of all ocean pollution? This is one of the most pressing challenges facing the ocean. Plastics pose a huge threat to the ocean ecosystem because they do not biodegrade. Instead, they continue to break into smaller and smaller pieces, which litter the ocean and its beaches.

Organised by From the Bow Seat, this year's contest asks you to explore the theme "Ocean Pollution: Challenges & Solutions", and it challenges you to make viewers reflect on the impact of ocean pollution, inspire them to consider possible solutions, and challenge them to take action.

    There are four categories:

An individual or group (ranging from two people to an entire class of students) may submit art. Each Individual or Group who submits to the contest must have one or more adult sponsors (usually, sponsors are teachers, a parent, or a mentor).

    There is no entry fee.

Open to any student worldwide in 6th-8th grade or 9th-12th grade (or International or Homeschool Equivalent).

    • 1st place receives up to 1,500 USD and up to 1,500 USD for their school
    • 2nd place receives up to 1,000 USD
    • 3rd place receives up to 500 USD

Moreover, 10 honorable mention recipients will receive up to 250 USD each, and 3 teachers will receive recognition awards of 750 USD each.
