The Travel Photographer of the Year photo contest is run by photographers for photographers, and in this 2016 edition there are new categories and new opportunities to showcase the best travel photography. Whether you are amateur or professional, beginner or expert, young or old, you are welcome to enter.
There are:

• Three One Shot categories
• Smart Shot category
• New Talent category
• HD Video category, Travel Shorts
• Young Travel Photographer of the Year
You can enter any category more than once except for New Talent. By submitting two or more Portfolio entries you will automatically be eligible for the top award and title Travel Photographer of the Year.
Entries shot on either film or digital cameras are eligible for all categories. Images shot on mobile phones may be submitted in the One Shot categories, provided that they have been taken on a 5 megapixel or higher phone camera. Judges will be looking for contemporary images so you should not enter outdated images.
Manipulations which could realistically be achieved in a darkroom will be accepted but the judges have the discretion to reject any image which has been, in their opinion, over-manipulated, removing the integrity of the original image.
Travel Photographer of the Year does not make any claim whatsoever on the copyright of your images.
Entry fees start at 8 GBP (approx. 11.50 USD), while entry for Young TPOTY is free.
Eligibility
Open to any photographer, amateur and professional, aged 19 years and over, from any country.
Young Travel Photographer of the Year is for photographers aged 18 years and under. There are two age categories – aged 14 years and under, aged 15 to 18 years.
Prize
The TPOTY 2016 sponsors have provided a prize package worth around 30,000 GBP (approx. 43,000 USD), and the winning photographers will see their work displayed at TPOTY exhibitions, including one at the University of Greenwich in London's Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The overall winner will be chosen from all entrants who submit at least two portfolios. In addition to the significant international exposure that comes with winning TPOTY, the Travel Photographer of the Year 2016 receives 4,000 GBP, a selection of StaaG luxury leather travel goods and sterling silver accessories (worth over 1250 GBP), 500 GBP to spend on the Páramo clothing of their choice, and a Plastic Sandwich personalized leather portfolio case.
Fujifilm is sponsoring all three portfolio categories: Journeys & Adventures; Land, Sea, Sky, and Mankind, and the top entrant in each of these categories receives a Fujifilm X-Series camera and lens of their choice. Entrants submitting two or more portfolios will also automatically be eligible for overall top prize and the title of Travel Photographer of the Year 2016. The winner of the Best Single Image award in each portfolio category receives a giclée exhibition print from Genesis Imaging.
