The Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls/Mer – Laboratoire Arago, a marine sciences research laboratory in France is holding a European-wide design competition. We are looking for entries which describe the scenography of a short museum visit about the diversity of living organisms on land and the scientific study of ecology (the interdependencies between organisms, among organisms, and their environment). During the visit we wish to incite: curiosity about the living world and how it works, and a sense of wonder about how it responds to change. We wish to introduce ways of discovering how to understand the living world, using hands-on and participative science techniques. This visit is part of the sponsor’s outreach project (called "Biodiversarium"), which also includes a public aquarium where local marine species are presented. The terrestrial ecology outreach center will be open to the public in May 2010. Participation is open to applicants who hold official residence status in a EU country and are design professionals or students in design. The competition is only open to people of 18 years or older. There is no entry fee.
