Tapirulan International Illustrators Contest

Cultural Association Tapirulan, with the sponsorship of Centro Fumetto Andrea Pazienza, Associazione Illustratori and Sarmede – Paese della fiaba, is proud to announce the seventh edition of the contest for illustrators.
Purpose of the competition is to select the forty authors to be included in the exhibition «Gli illustratori di Tapirulan» (The illustrators of Tapirulan), to be held in Cremona (Italy) from December 3 2011 to January 29 2012. After Tony Wolf, Milo Manara, Silver, Sergio Toppi and Guido Scarabottolo, the jury is now directed by another famous cartoonist: Roberto Innocenti.
Execution techniques are free. Any work must be square-shaped, not smaller than 25x25 centimetres and not bigger than 40x40 centimetres. If it is put in a frame this should not be thicker than 3 millimetres. In case of a digital image it should be 31x31 centimetres (300 dpi – JPG format – best quality).
The theme is "privacy". Secret emotions and unconfessable thoughts. Private vices and public virtues. The right to the privacy collides with the irresistible curiosity.Eligibility
Illustrators from all over the world can enrol. There is no age limit however underage candidates need parents’ authorization.
Every candidate is allowed to submit only one brand-new work. Neither prize-winning works nor works previously mentioned for merit will be accepted.Prize
The jury will select 40 works to be published in the catalogue and to be displayed in the exhibition. Among the 40 works selected, 12 will also be published on the calendar. Then a 1,000 Euro prize (approx 1450 USD) will be awarded. These 40 works will then be published on line on the contest's website.
All the registered subscribers will be able to express their preferential votes. The artist who will get most of the votes will be awarded a 300 euros prize (approx 435 USD).
