    Typography Day will be organized for the sixth time in 2013 at the Department of Design (DoD) at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) in collaboration with the Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) with support from India Design Association (InDeAs) and Aksharaya.

    The event will feature a day of workshops on Typography and Calligraphy followed by two days of conference dedicated to display typography. The international conference which will be devoted to addressing issues faced by type designers, type users and type educators. The conference includes presentations of invited keynote speakers, eminent academicians, blind juried papers, industry professionals, research scholars and students.

    The theme for the poster competition is "Between the Lines". Design a Poster to express the meaning of the above phrase using your native script and language. Calligraphic or digitally created letterforms or existing fonts, or a combination of these can be used for the poster.

    Each participant is allowed maximum three separate entries. The resulting poster should be 420mm x 600mm only in portrait format, Resolution: 300 dpi, File type: JPEG or PDF and Color Mode: CMYK.

    There is no entry fee.


    This competition is open to students, faculty and professionals worldwide. Non resident Indians, as well as foreign citizens can take part in it.


    Twenty five winning entries will be published and displayed in an exhibition during the event. The winners are entitled to free participation (workshop expenses and food) during the ‘Typography Seminar and Workshop’ from 7th to 8th of March 2013.
