The London International Animation Festival is Britain's premier showcase for independent animation screening annually, at the beginning of September, showcasing one of the largest collections of auteur independent animation gathered at any festival in the world. LIAF aims to challenge and inspire audiences with thematic, aesthetic and technical diversity from award winners, outstanding industry veterans and those wonderful newcomers who are exploring their talent on screen for the very first time. LIAF is a weeklong event, screening up to 10 competitive programs, plus more than 10 curated, themed and retrospective programs. LIAF screens all formats and does not charge entry fees.

The 2009 edition of Lucca Animation, the international animated film festival, will be held from March 18-22, in the ancient Tuscan town of Lucca. The biggest competitive festival in Italy will screen dozens of works from all over the world in its short film competition, under the examination of an international jury. Directors will be in Lucca to meet the audience, hold workshops, talk about their art. The comprehensive retrospective "The Masters of Prague" will provide a wide look on Czech animation, from its historical masterpieces up to the best of today's work.

AniMazing! Spotlight focuses exclusively on animated shorts. The contest is open to any animation lasting 12 minutes or less. There is no limit on production year. Any independent or experimenting independent animator can enter. The short must not have been widely viewed. The short must not have won any major awards. Every applicant will receive professional critiques by our international panel of experts. Each quarter they'll give two Excellence in Animation Awards. The awards ceremony will be on November 8, 2009 at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California. There they'll choose the Best Animated Short from the year's eight Excellence winners. There will also be specialty awards recognizing particularly fine aspects.
